BMW Says Goodbye To Quad-Turbo Diesel Engine

Is the V12 and V8 coming soon?

Although you may not have heard of BMW’s B57S engine, it is worth knowing. This engine is more than just a collection number with a BMW badge on it. The B57S diesel engine is the only one with a quad-turbocharged turbocharging. BMW gave the B57S the proper send-off.

The B Series is a German engine that delivers superior power and efficiency in the diesel market. Bavarian automaker Bavarian Automaker was almost able to achieve the magical 621-mile (1, 000-kilometer) range. The engine produced a significant amount of power and this while doing so. BMW claims the quad-turbo swansong produces 400 horsepower (298kilowatts).

Then, why did the engine suffer such a fate? The end of the B Series was due to the dramatic rise in emissions. The powerplant’s complexity meant that running costs were high, which was not only too harsh on the polar bears.

The unique diesel was installed to a number of BMWs but the Bavarian automaker decided to honour it with the , X7, and X5M50d Final Editions. You might believe that BMW will just put some badges on M50d cars and forget about it.

The production numbers for the Final Edition models are not yet known, but you can rest assured that the vehicle will get some unique features. The vehicle will include driver aids such as gesture control, laser headlamps, and autonomous driving assistants. BMW states that these SUVs will be only available in certain European countries, so don’t get too excited.

We’re happy to wait to see what the future holds, even though we’re able to buy these vehicles here in the U.S.
