BMW Shows The Evolution of the X3: Old Vs. Neu

Are things really more beautiful?

The third generation BMW X3 has arrived on the market. Its starting price is $43,445 (after $995 delivery). This makes it a perfect time to compare it with its predecessor. Bavarian firm has posted a brief comparison video that shows the evolution of the SUV over its two previous generations, the F25 (and G01) models.

Exterior design has seen the greatest improvements. The angular shapes of the second-gen model have been replaced with more elegant and more rounded lines. The new X3 has a bolder and more expressive kidney grille that features active aerodynamic elements. Meanwhile, the redesigned intakes at the front and reshaped headlights give it a more mature appearance.

Although the sides of these two vehicles may look almost identical, the drag coefficient has been reduced from 0.29 to an impressive 0.29. This improves fuel economy. The taillights have a new design and are available with full-LED technology.

Customers will find a more refined environment inside the cabin thanks to new and better materials and features such as a multifunctional fully digital instrument cluster, a larger touchscreen center display with additional applications that can now be controlled using gestures, and a panoramic roof.

Although the third generation X3 looks similar to its predecessor, it is far more sophisticated and technologically advanced than its predecessor. For example, the Driving Assistance Package adds great features such as Active Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Active Cruise Control, which can bring the vehicle completely to a halt. The optional equipment includes Frontal Collision Warning and City Collision Mitigation. Pedestrian Protection is also available.

The new X3 can be ordered in a M40i sporty version. It has a 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline motor with 355 horsepower (265 kilowatts). The good news is that there will soon be a proper HTML3_.
