There are two races and each race has a different winner.
It is surprising how large the premium three-row crossover segment is, especially when you consider how many people make use of this extra passenger capacity. A new Carwow video shows three of them: a BMW X7, Mercedes Benz GLS 400D and Tesla Model X long range. Highlights of the clip include the drag races, but you can also see a subjective analysis of the trio afterward.
This test used a different type of fuel for each model. The X7 M50i, the top-of-the-line version, has a 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 engine that makes 523 horsepower (390 kilowatts or 530 PS) and 553 pound feet (750 Newton-meters). GLS 400D is a lower-ranking version of its respective lineup. It packs a 3.0-liter turbodiesel-inline-six engine with 325 horsepower (330 PS/243 kW) or 516 lb/ft (700Nm). The electric Model X Long Range produces 464 hp (346 kW or 470 PS) and 553 lbft (750 nm).
Standing start is the best place to start a drag race. Because of its power and launch control, the BMW holds a clear advantage. The X7 wins easily with the Tesla and Mercedes, who are distantly behind it.
The second race starts at a speed of 50 miles per hour (81 km/h) roll. The X7 cannot create the same lead without launch control. The Model X is far ahead of the others. The GLS has the lowest power output among the bunch and is third.
The review section covers elements such as the vehicle’s infotainment, seating comfort, third row accessibility, and other aspects. All of them have good qualities. But, let’s see which one wins.
