Bombshell Betty Buick is looking for a new home

eBay is selling the Bonneville Speed Car for just $5,000

Bombshell Betty is a Buick built for speed. Jeff Brock, a sculptor and photographer, took an old Super Reviera and transformed it into a Bonneville icon in just two months. It’s now for sale on ebay at a price of $5,000

The exterior is quite unique. Betty uses an inverted truck bumper as her prow. Brock hand-built the rockers, fender skirts and rockers for better aerodynamics. The roof has been cut eight inches shorter and slightly raised to meet the rear deck. In the meantime, the headlight assemblies were removed from a 1930s Chevy. A 1968 front axle assembly from a Chevy van was then squeezed between the skirts.

The straight eight-cylinder engine from a 1950 Buick Roadmaster lies beneath all the extravagant aluminum bodywork. It produces 340 horsepower (253 Kilowatts) and is available with several upgrades, including a Hart’s Collision Racing Shop custom intake manifold with a JegsQuick-Fuel racing carburetor and a Ford nine-inch rear end taken from a 1973 Thunderbird. It can be paired with a Borg-Warner T-10 4-speed manual transmission.

Betty isn’t just a show-and-tell car. The car holds many Bonneville records. It won the Bonneville land speed record in the class XO/GCC in 2013. This was achieved at 165.735 mph (2266.725 km/h). This beat its previous speed of 3.254 mph (5.37 kmh). Betty has won five Bonneville trophies and is currently the fastest 1952 Buick Super Riviera driver in the world.
