It’s hard to believe this is a compact crossover with sinister looks and massive wheels.
Brabus seems to be on a roll. After unveiling a modified Smart For Two Convertible in the past, and a Mercedes G-Class in the recent days, it now shows off a heavily modified GLC. Bottrop’s tuner tweaked the flagship 63S version to increase power, bringing the compact Mercedes cross-over closer to supercar levels.
Installing a plug-and-play auxiliary control module was the first order of business. It was designed for the biturbo V8’s engine control system. This module increases boost pressure and modifies ignition mapping. The AMG engine now produces an extra 89 horsepower (66kilowatts), and a robust 591 hp (441kW). Torque is up by 74 pounds (100 Newton-meters) to a staggering 590 lb-ft (890 Nm) with the upgrade.
Brabus’ take against the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S takes just 3.6 seconds. It reaches 62 mph (100.0 kph), and accelerates to 186 mph (300.0 kph), when an electronic speed limiter kicks in. The custom stainless steel exhaust system with electronically controlled flaps provides the music while you accelerate. This allows the driver to modify the exhaust note, making it louder or quieter.
Tuner also developed a modified air suspension module that brings the crossover’s high-performance performance closer to the road by about 1.2 inches (30 millimeters). For maximum visual impact, the suspension can be complemented with custom wheels up to 22 inches. Many carbon fiber accents both inside and outside make the 63 S stand apart.
Brabus will gladly send its finest leather and Alcantara to those who are willing to dig deeper into their pockets. They also offer miscellaneous accessories such as aluminum pedals or stainless steel scuff plates that feature the tuner’s illuminated logo. All of the above-mentioned goodies can be purchased for the GLC63 S Coupe.
