Brabus S65 is the World’s Fastest and Most Powerful Four-Seat Cabrio

The title says it all…

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG S65 Coupet has 621 horsepower. However, Brabus decided to take the biturbo-V12 engine to a new level. It certainly did. Brabus tweaked the engine to produce an additional 267 horsepower, making it a total of 888 HP (662 kW) at 5,500 rpm. The torque is up from 738 pound feet (1,500 Newton meters) to 1,106 lb-ft (1.500 Nm), at 4,200 rpm. To preserve reliability, however, it was electronically limited to 885 lbft (1.200 Nm).

Brabus needed to increase the engine’s displacement by 6.0 to 6.3 Liters, and the bores of the cylinders. A bespoke exhaust system was developed, and larger turbochargers installed. The cooling system was also improved to match the upgraded engine. It now has a new control system that allows all the changes to work together in the most efficient manner while still maintaining the smoothness one would expect from V12.

A seven-speed automatic transmission was assigned to transfer all the power to the rear wheels. Brabus had extensive modifications to it to handle the AMG power. To complete the hardware upgrades, we added a custom limited-slip differential and larger intake manifolds, as well as larger down pipes and an active flaps exhaust.

The Brabus Rocket 900 Cabrio can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 kph), in 3.9 seconds. This is two tenths faster than the S65 Cabrio. The standard version can reach speeds of 155 mph (225 kph), or 186 (300 kph), electronically controlled. However, the black model will top out at 217 mph (355 kph), on the autobahn.

Brabus did more than just overhaul the V12 engine. He also designed an aerodynamic body kit for the S65 Cabrio. The car is definitely a sight to see. The car is shown with 21-inch wheels wrapped in low profile tires. However, larger 22-inch alloys are also available. A lowering module will bring this ultimate four-seat cabrio closer by approximately 0.6 inches (15 mm) to increase its visual impact.

The plush interior also underwent a number of changes to reflect the S65’s new velocity. You will find aluminum accents everywhere, as well as fancy scuff plates with an illuminated Brabus logo in various colors.

Brabus has announced that it will be displaying a Rocket 900 Cabrio in two-tone interiors with Mondial Vanilla leather and Mondial Black leather later this month in Frankfurt. Mercedes-AMG will also unveil the refreshed S65 Cabriolet with OLED taillights
