[UPDATE] Official interior photos added.
These spy photos taken during an official photo/video shoot show that the highly anticipated 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has shed all its camouflage.
We have photos that show the exterior of the new S-Class, but the launch date has not been confirmed. The Mercedes-Benz flagship model looks smoother than its predecessor. It features a large front grille, LED headlights, and a more spacious interior. The LED treatment has also been applied to the rear lights, making the rear end look even more sleeker.
The car’s exterior features include two prominent character lines: sculpted doors and slender chromed exhaust pipe. Brake rotors are also cross-drilled. The new S-Class has subtler fender flares than the current S-Class. This improves the car’s elegant appearance.
The S-Class regular will now be available in eleven exterior colors, including three new options: Anthracite Blue and Ruby Black, as well as Diamond Silver. The leaked presentation shows that the cabin will feature ambient LED lighting, a wood-leather steering wheel, and a Burmester soundsystem. Two 12.3-inch screens will be used for the instrument cluster, COMAND infotainment systems and two soft-close doors.
Additional features include a surround-view camera, heated and ventilated seating, rear seat entertainment system, rear seat entertainment, and six colors for Nappa and designo leather seats. An Air Balance Package filters, ionizes, and dispensates perfume.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will feature active, power-deployable seat belts. These belts will be used in conjunction with the PRE-SAFE system to automatically tension the seat belts before they are triggered by an impending collision. Magic Body Control, a next-generation Active Body Control suspension, will use a camera to detect road imperfections. If detected, the suspension will automatically adjust to compensate.
Mercedes-Benz will launch the S550 4MATIC in October, and the S63AMG 4MATIC one month later. These spy photos show the standard S-Class. The coupe will follow, and then a convertible. The Maybach 57 will be replaced by the variant with the longest wheelbase and will likely receive the Pullman moniker.
