The colorful calipers add some artistic flair to the science of stopping.

Cool brake calipers are an automotive oddity that almost every car enthusiast enjoys. Because calipers are so small compared to their huge, grin-inducing visual impact on people, we call them oddities. Brembo is the best company to understand this. Now, brake specialists are going beyond simple colors to give a little more personality to the small but critical components that live behind your wheels Unfortunately, none of these original designs will be made into production.

2019 Geneva Motor Show Brembo presented nine concept calipers, which caught our attention. Brembo stated in a press release that it was inspired by fashion, design and art. The gallery below shows some of the creations. An argyle sweater-caliper is one of them. Imagine such calipers being fitted to Jaguar E-Type restomods. Then, enjoy the laughter.

Some designs are more intricate, like the orange caliper that has a traditional camouflage design and the detailed dragon tattoo with black details. A greenery-themed caliper would look great on hybrid and electric cars, and the yellow-spotted feline caliper would look great on any vehicle with a bright yellow exterior.

The calipers with 1970s and 1990s themes are among the most abstract. It is amazing how only a few colors can capture a decade. But nothing says 1977 more than yellow with brown or orange shapes. The black caliper featuring fluorescent characters is a great example of this. The cool street art caliper is also abstract, and it’s painted white with brightly colored characters in different poses.

There’s also the glitter caliper. It’s actually not as extravagant as it sounds. It’s simple, elegant and finished in gray with glitter in the color. It’s the perfect caliper for your Rolls-Royce.

These calipers could be a sign that Brembo is on to something. We’d be happy to bolt these cool designs on our cars, even if it was just a simple color.
