High-speed tests are conducted in the final stages of development.

Although the long-tail Bugatti Chiron Super Sport has returned, it has lost its “300+” suffix from the record-breaking special edition . This special edition sold out immediately when it was launched in summer 2019. After hitting 304.773 mph (490.484km/h), the Molsheim peeps have officially retired from setting new speed records. However, this new Super Sport edition isn’t far behind.

After completing tests at 236 mph (308 km/h), the W16’s latest version has entered the final phase of development. This involves reaching the electronically controlled top speed of 273mph (405 km/h). The Molsheimers have added approximately 100 sensors to the prototype that monitor temperature and pressure. This allows them to accurately record all data and make any last-minute adjustments.

One of the images below shows the prototype’s dirty front fascia at these speeds. To iron out any kinks, all the tests were run in Top Speed mode. Deliveries to customers will begin in August. Bugatti says that the new quad-turbo, 8.0-liter quad-turbo machine is safe even at 273 mph.

The Chiron Sport has more to it than just the extra power and lengthened engine. Engineers also tweaked the transmission. The seven-speed dual-clutch auto shifts to seventh only at 250 mph (403 km/h), while the ratio of final gear is 3.6 percentage longer. The hypercar’s 1,577 horsepower (1.176 kilowatts), engine helps it “accelerate strongly” after reaching 400 km/h.

It takes only 28.6 seconds to reach 248.5 mph (405 km/h), 0-62 mph (100%2C) in 5.8 seconds, 0-124mph (200%2C) in 5.8 seconds, 0-186mph (300%2C) in 12.1 seconds, or one second faster than a standard Chiron. Although it isn’t the Rimac Nevera hypercar’s ballistic acceleration, it is still faster than a standard Chiron.

The Super Sport is priced at EUR3.2 million, or $3.8M before taxes. It also includes a wide range of personalization options. Yes, you can add extras to a car that costs millions of dollars.
