TMZ reports that he is not the buyer.
Update A report by TMZ.com states that a spokesperson for Cristiano Ronaldo claimed to have told the website that he didn’t buy La Voiture Noire.
Bugatti unveiled a stunning hypercar at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The La Voiture Noire is a tribute to the Type 57 SC Atlantic. It’s a one-off build that Bugatti sold for $18.6M (EUR16.5M) including taxes. Although the identity of the buyer is not known, the Daily Mail cites a report from Spanish website Marca.com claiming that Cristiano Ronaldo, a world-famous soccer player for Americans, is the car’s new owners.
Take a look at The La Voiture Noire
This news is not official. The British tabloid does not provide any other sources and Marca.com’s claim contains only a few sentences that give no clue as to where the information came from. Bugatti remains mum about the matter, while Ronaldo’s social media accounts lack any Bugatti-related content. This means that you should take the information with a grain.
It is a story we feature because it is interesting to everyone, even the rumors about who bought the most expensive car in the world. This is especially true when the car being discussed is unabashedly powerful and stunning. La Voiture Noire’s carbon-fiber body is handcrafted, and loosely matches what we see on the Chiron based DIVO. The Chiron quad-turbo W16 engine, which can send upwards of 1,500 horsepower (1.119 kilowatts), to all four wheels, is also under the skin.
Or, will look like under the skin. Bugatti’s Geneva debut was a concept car that didn’t have a powertrain. It also had no interior, and Bugatti said that the car had been in development for just six months. It isn’t likely that the final road version will be available until at least two and a quarter years . If Ronaldo is the secret buyer of this ride, he will have to live with a Chiron just like the rest.
