Rumours suggest that it will use the same platform used by the Porsche Taycan.
A new report from the U.K. reveals more about the zero-emissions Molsheim machine, following recent Bugatti revelations. CAR reports that the Bugatti without combustion engine is being built for a 2023 market launch. It will be a pure electric sedan on a stretched platform, adapted from the Porsche Taycan.
Bugatti’s new four-door Bugatti will reportedly revive the “Royale”, and use a lot of carbon fiber to reduce weight. The Bugatti is a four-door coupe. Taycan It measures 4.85 meters (191 in) in length. The EV version from France is reportedly “much longer.” We are likely to be looking at a car with a maximum length of five meters (197 in) “to give the car the status of the ultimate luxury car.”
CAR mentions that the car will be inspired by recent Bugattis like the Chiron and some retro cues based on the Type 41, which was built in the late 1920s or early 1930s. The interior is unknown, although it’s possible to imagine it being highly customizable, given the car’s reported price tag of EUR700,000. This works out at about $794,000, depending on current exchange rates.
The Porsche Taycan will offer more than 600 horsepower, but the restored Bugatti Royale will produce around 870 hp due to three electric motors. Solid-state batteries, level 4 autonomous driving capability and an all-wheel drive system seem likely.
The report is primarily focused on a sedan but CAR mentions that the Royale could be offered in other body styles. It is yet to be determined if the fastback five-door 16C Galibier model, which was unveiled almost a decade ago, will ever see production.
