Here we go again. It is time for a special edition Veyron. This time, it pays tribute to the Type 18 “Black Bess”, which Bugatti calls “one of the most street-legal super sports cars ever made.” It was powered by an inline four 5.0-liter engine with more than 100 PS (73kW). This allowed for a top speed of 100 mph (161 km/h). Ettore Bugatti, the founder of the company, drove the vehicle in multiple races and won the 1912 Mont Ventoux hill climbing race.
Like the other models, only three Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Legends models will be produced. They all feature a carbon fibre body in black with gold accents. The interior was upholstered in light beige, while the steering wheel was covered with red Crimson Leather.
The door trim panel, dashboard, cowl and dash panels were covered with Havanna leather. They also feature Roland Garros’ Type 18 “Black Bess” as well as the Morane Saulnier Type H. This airplane belonged to Garros, who was one of seven who purchased the Black Bess.
Bugatti will be showcasing the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Black Bess at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show.
The sixth and final special edition Veyron is expected to be dedicated to Elizabeth Junek. She was a well-known Czech female runner during the first half century. It is possible that the model will be revealed at Paris Motor Show in October.
