The Concours d’Elegance saw Bugatti’s Bugatti Veyron super sport, which they showed off to the public. During the weekend event, the world’s fastest car was seen sporting blue carbon fiber body panels. It also served as the pace car at the Bugatti Rally at Laguna Seca Raceway.
The car can reach 431.072 km/h (267.856 miles/h), but its electronically limited speed is 415 km/h (258 mi/h). Bugatti claims that the consumer model will be identical in specs. However, the restriction was necessary to protect the tires. The engine can produce 1,200 horsepower (882 kW), which is a 20% increase over the Veyron 16.4, as well as 1,500 Nm (1106 Lb-ft) of torque. Because the turbochargers and intercoolers are larger, the chassis had to be modified to handle the extra power and speed.
The car features new shock absorbers and stabilisers as well as “raised main spring travel”. The car’s aerodynamics have improved while the carbon monocoque is lighter and more rigid. On request, a clear lacquered carbon body can be made.
The production of the Bugatti Veyron super sport will start in the fall. As part of a limited edition called the “World Record Edition”, five of the first five cars will be available for sale. Each car will come in black-painted carbon with an orange finish. The first series is already sold out.
