Excelle XT is based upon the European Opel Astra. You can choose from a 1.6-liter turbo or naturally aspirated power plants of 1.8 and 1.6 liter.
People who are not well-versed in the current state and trends of the automotive industry may be surprised to learn that Buick is the top-selling premium brand in China. It is true, and China could be one reason GM might soon rebound to global prominence.
Shanghai GM, General Motors China’s China arm, debuted yesterday the Excelle XT on the Guangzhou Auto Show. Excelle XT, a five-door sedan/coupe based on Opel Astra, is a five door model. It will be Buick’s entry level model for the Chinese market.
Three petrol/gasoline engine options will be offered for the Excelle XT. A 1.6 liter turbocharged four cylinder turbocharged four-banger of 180 hp (135kW), and 235 Nm of torque is the most powerful. Superboost can increase the torque figure to 266 Nm in a matter of seconds if needed.
Next on the engine range is the 1.8 liter gasoline/petrol with 138 horsepower (103kW) & 175 Nm torque. There will also be a naturally-aspirated 1.6 liter engine with 116 horsepower (85kW) as well as 155 Nm torque. All engines come standard with a six speed automatic transmission.
TheGuangzhou Automobile Show is open from November 24-30. Shanghai GM has sold 548 708 vehicles in China this year.
