It’s not coming to America, however.
The Buick LaCrosse has officially debuted after a photos leaked from December last year. The updated sedan features significant design changes and an updated engine lineup.
Opel is no longer part of General Motors. However, the new LaCrosse features an Insignia-inspired front with sleek LED headlights and a larger radiator grille. There’s also a chrome trim connecting lamps to the grille. The bumper has been slightly redesigned with small chrome accents on the lower edges.
Similar approaches are taken at the rear. The taillights are shorter and connected with a chrome strip. This creates a wider overall appearance. The bumper valance has been reworked, and now features integrated chrome exhaust outlets of a different form. The sedan’s side profile is unchanged. However, the press photos show that Buick may offer new wheel designs.
The engine lineup has a new addition. According to GM Authority, the 2020 LaCrosse will be Buick’s first model with the eighth generation Ecotec motors from General Motors. It is a turbocharged 2.0-liter gas engine that produces 237 horsepower (177 kilowatts), and 258 poundfeet (353 Newton-meters). Standard equipment includes a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The LaCrosse facelifted engine will be upgraded to a 1.3-liter turbo-engine that generates 160 horsepower (119 kW) later in its lifecycle.
You won’t like what you see. Buick does not intend to bring this refreshed model to the United States. Although sales in China will begin soon, GM’s decision not to bring the refreshed model to America’s showrooms next year at its Detroit-Hamtramck facility where the North American LaCrosse is manufactured means that the model won’t be available there. The 2019 LaCrosse can still be purchased in the USA starting at $29,570.
China will receive the LaCrosse model at SAICGM’s Jinqiao South factory in Shanghai.
