It features illuminated blocks that provide dramatic lighting at the rear and front.
The 1,360-piece Lego Technic set will be given to the Batmobile in the film The Batman. The kit will be available November 1st and retails for $99.99.
The new Batmobile marks a significant departure from the earlier versions. The design of the Batmobile , particularly the front and side, has cues that recall muscle cars from late 1960s and early 70s. This era’s Dodge Challenger seems to have been the main inspiration. However, we also see cues from Mustang, Camaro and other muscle cars.
The back seems to pay homage to the 1989 Batmobile with the jet of flame coming out of it. Although the tail does not have retro cues like the nose, the designer does an excellent job of integrating both ends.
The Batmobile is approximately 17 inches (45 cmimeters long) with the rear flame, 6 in (17 centimeters wide) and 4 in (11 centimeters tall).
The kit comes with two illuminated bricks, one red and one one yellow. To lighten the powerplant, the crimson brick goes in the back. The other color is closer to amber, and it lights up the grille.
Other clever gimmicks are also available. The steering is on the front wheels. The rear wheels have a differential. The engine’s pistons move and the flame at the back turns. The doors and hood also open.
Original plans for Batman were to release in June 2021. However, the coronavirus pandemic caused a delay and the Batman is now available on March 4, 2022. Lego likely had the kit in stock for this earlier date and wanted it to be in stores by holiday shopping.
