C8 Corvette will Keep This Name Famous

Although there are many things that are changing regarding the Corvette, it seems like the name isn’t one of them.

Official Corvette C8

Shakespeare’s Romeo, Juliet famously stated that “a rose by any name would smell just as sweet,” referring to her love for Romeo, despite the fact they are blood enemies. It doesn’t matter what mid-engined Corvette actually is called, we’ll still love it.

CarScoops uncovered interior photos of the C8. Despite all the changes happening to the rest of the car it seems that one thing will not change: the name of the car. We can see clearly from the photos that “Corvette Stingray”, the car’s name, will be retained for the next generation.

This has profound implications. The possibility that Chevrolet may build two Corvettes, one front-engined and one mid-engined, is now dead. The engine will not be available if you are looking for a new Corvette. This is not a problem for us. However, some Corvette enthusiasts might find this news disturbing.

C8 Corvette will Keep This Name Famous

We’d like you to learn a little history for those people. Zora Arkus – Duntov, the legendary “Father” of the Corvette, was pushing for a midengine Corvette back in 1957. Many Corvette concept cars with mid-engine configurations have been built over the years. It’s only a matter of time.

The Corvette is a great car, but the C8 will make it a world-class sportscar. We couldn’t be happier as Corvette enthusiasts for many years.

We are happy to see the Stingray name stay, but we are sad that the new car will not be named “Zora”, as we originally thought. We have to admit that his dream of a Corvette production-engined Corvette is a worthy tribute.
