It looks great, but don’t expect the ZR1 will arrive until a while.
The Chevrolet Corvette mid-engined makes its debut July 18 in Tulsa, California. However, the model on display is only the standard model. There are many rumors and common sense that suggest that there may be hotter versions in the future. This rendering is from Corvette Forum and shows what the new ZR1 could look like when it arrives.
Official Corvette C8 is Now Available
The ZR1’s front looks like this artist’s design. It has a larger splitter and bigger intakes in its fascia. For better air flow from the nose to rear, the hood now has a rear-facing outlet.
The rear has a larger wing and inlets on the rear deck. The design incorporates a single trapezoidal exhaust outlet and a large diffuser to help the car get onto the road.
The standard C8 Corvette uses a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 producing about 460 horsepower (343 Kilowatts). There are a number of engines that could power the ZR1. The hotter version could be equipped with Cadillac’s twin-turbo Blackwing V8 4.2-liter engine. Reports also suggest a dual-overhead cam V8 rather than the standard pushrod design. The ‘Vette, which is a top-of-the-line version, would have an all-wheel-drive, hybrid powertrain that produces an estimated 1,000 horsepower (745 kW).
Chevy anticipates a very high demand for its new Corvette and is adding 400 workers at the Bowling Green, Kentucky factory. Due to the high number of orders, it seems unlikely that the ZR1 version will be introduced by the company very soon after the standard model’s release.
