Cadillac CT6 drops another engine, only two left

Another one is following suit.

Some CT6 fans are still grieving the loss of the 2.0-liter four cylinder engine. However, Cadillac appears to be keen to reduce the number of engine options available for its full-size luxury sedan.

According to AutoVerdict The American marque has published the ordering guide of the 2020 CT6. Buyers will have only two options for engine selections in the next model year. The only options for next year will be the naturally-aspirated V6 (3.6L) and V8 (4.2L twin-turbo), which are both available all-wheel-drive and coupled with a 10-speed automatic.

The 3.0L twin-turbo engine is the more powerful and range-enhancing option, even if you exclude the V8 of the CT6 Platinum. It generates 404 horsepower and 400 pounds-feet, which is significantly more than the naturally-aspirated V6’s 335-hp (384 lb-ft) and 3.6L V6’s 335-hp (385 lb-ft). They can be paired with a 10-speed auto transmission.

This is why the 4.2L V8 would be your best choice for a powerful CT6. However, Auto Verdict has not yet revealed the final output rating.

We checked Cadillac’s configurator again and confirmed that the 3.0L twin turbo engine option is still available. It is only a matter time before Cadillac removes it from the configurator.

If you are among the many who want the luxurious sedan with a force-inducted, V6 engine but don’t need the detuned Blackwing, we recommend you purchase the car as soon possible before the time runs out. We will never know the next Cadillac move.
