It will cost more than the CT6-V limited-run CT6V, which is odd.
The future for the Cadillac CT6 remains uncertain. Literally no one in the automaker knows what will happen to the luxury sedan. Although it may be able to survive for a few more years, there is no commitment from Cadillac to keep it around. A new report claims that the CT6 Platinum, the top-of-the-line model, will receive a 4.2-liter V8 motor.
This motor is a modified Blackwing unit. It powered the limited edition CT6_V, which was sold out within 24 hours of pre-orders. The 275 Cadillacs sold featured a twin-turbo V8 engine with 550 horsepower (410kilowatts). The CT6 Platinum will receive a slightly modified version with 500 HP (373 kW) as well as 553 pound-feet (753 Newton-meters). The Platinum model will feature a 10-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system, just like the limited-run HTML6-V.
According to data from order guide brought to our attention CarsDirect the CT6 Platinum will cost more than its powerful brother. The CT6 Platinum twin-turbo V8 sedan, starting at $96,790 plus destination, will be the most expensive CT6 ever made. It is priced $8,000 higher than the CT6V and $9,000 less than the CT6 with 3.0-liter twin turbo engine.
We don’t know how many CT6 Platinum4.2 Cadillac models will be produced at this time, but it is already the 2019 model year, so there are no surprises. The new range-topper will not be sold as a limited-edition vehicle, so it should be far more than the CT6V’s 275 production mark.
The Platinum trim is the most expensive and offers extras such as 20-way adjustable leather seating, 19-inch multispoke alloy wheels and Cadillac’s Super Cruise semiautonomous driving system.
