Authorities consider Johnson’s disappearance accidental drowning.
Authorities have canceled the search for Davey G. Johnson, an automotive journalist. The 43-year old contributor to Auto and Driver and Jalopnik and Motorcyclist was on an overnight motorcycle ride between Mammoth, California and his home in Sacramento.
Abigail Bassett (ex-Motor1.com contributor) is the official liaison between Johnson’s hundreds family members and the authorities. His disappearance has been ruled accidental drowning. Bassett stated in the latest update to a Facebook thread, which has been shared more than 1,000 times, that detectives believe Davey entered the river by his own will and that there is no evidence that he was involved in any foul play.
Johnson has been missing from June 5th. Johnson has been missing since June 5. His last contact was a selfie that he sent to a friend at the Mokelumne River. Johnson, a respected writer who has an extensive knowledge of motorcycles and cars, was stopping for a break while he tested a Honda CB1000R Motorcyclist.
The authorities spent 10 days searching the Mokelumne River, the surrounding woods and its waters with jet skis, helicopters and dogs. They also searched on foot for nearly 450 miles. We reported that Johnson’s motorcycle, his helmet and gloves, as well as his phone and camera were found at a rest stop. Johnson’s clothes, laptop, phone and phone were also found near the river.

Johnson’s courage, ambition, charm and eccentricity were all exemplary in our tribute. We will, however, be keeping it simple: We miss Davey. Without you, the world and the automotive journalism community would be worse.
