Can the Ford F-150 Raptor outperform a purpose-built off-roader? The Ford F-150 Raptor has a lot of potential. It blends on-road and off-road performance. But can this machine beat the Can-Am Maverick X3?
The Ford F-150 Raptor has a twin-turbo V6 motor that produces 450 horsepower (335 Kilowatts), and 510 lb-ft (691 Newton-meters). The powerful engine is coupled to a responsive 10-speed auto transmission that keeps the turbocharged engine within its powerband.
The Can-Am Maverick Maverick Max X Turbo RR is designed to compete with the Ford Raptor. The X3 has a longer name than the Ford Raptor and a better power-to-weight ratio. Can-Am Maverick X3 Max X DS Turbo RR has a turbocharged 3-cylinder inline-3 that generates 195 horsepower (145 kilowatts). Can-Am chose a CVT transmission to keep the turbocharged 3-cylinder’s power band intact. It reduces shifting while still offering a wide range of transmission options.
