BMW’s new BMW M5 CS performance car is one of the best, but how does it compare to other supercars in a drag racing event? Carwow’s team took to the dragstrip to test the BMW M5 CS with the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, and the Nissan GT-R.

The BMW M5 CS track-focused sports sedan is a result of some of the most outstanding motorsport engineering by the legendary BMW M team. It starts with the BMW M5 Competition, but then adds a number of improvements to improve performance in every way. The M5 CS is 230 lbs lighter than the BMW M5 Competition due to extensive carbon fiber use. BMW also increased the power of the M5 CS’s 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 motor. It now produces 617 horsepower (460 Kilowatts), and 553 lb/ft (750 Newton meters) of torque. The BMW M5 CS also features larger carbon-ceramic brakes, and a retuned suspension system to improve on-track performance.

Can The BMW M5 CS Keep Up With Best Supercars From Lamborghini and Nissan?

BMW M5 CS features an 8-speed ZF-sourced automatic transmission. This transmits power via BMW’s x-Drive all-wheel-drive technology to all four wheels. The BMW M5 CS’s V8 power is reduced to 2.6 seconds thanks to this all-wheel-drive system. This feat is impressive for a luxury sedan weighing in at 4096lbs.

The sensational Lamborghini Aventador SVJ supercar was brought to compete with the BMW M5 CS carwow. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ supercar is a combination of extreme styling and a mid-mounted V12 motor. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ’s 6.5-liter V12 produces 759 horsepower (566 Kilowatts), and 531 lb/ft (721 Newton meters) of torque. The massive V12 engine is coupled to a 7-speed single clutch automatic transmission. This transmits power to all four wheels using Lamborghini’s all-wheel drive system.

The R35 Nissan GT-R is the final competitor in carwow’s drag race. This is a favorite drag racer. The R35 GT-R’s 13-year-old production runs mean that it is not as modern as its competitors, but it can still compete in drag racing. The R35 Nissan GT-R’s twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V6 motor produces 600 horsepower (447 Kilowatts), and 481 lb-ft (652 Newton meters) of torque. The powerful V6 is coupled to a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. This transmits power via an all-wheel drive system to all four wheels.
