Can you spot the 4 biggest changes to the 2018 Mazda6?

The 2018 Mazda6 has been updated with a few minor tweaks.

Just in time to attend the L.A. Mazda has updated its 6 sedan, which is already a handsome model, just in time for the L.A. Auto Show. The 2018 model year features a sharper exterior and interior design, as well as a turbocharged engine that is more powerful. The most important changes are under the hood, where the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine will excite enthusiasts. However, there are some updates to the exterior that should be noted.

The Mazda6 takes inspiration from the Vision Coupe concept’s “Mature Elegance” design language. It has a more defined face and a new grille. According to the company, the new design emphasizes depth and gives the 6 an elevated center of gravity and wider stance. The sharp design is enhanced by standard LED headlights with integrated fog lamps and new 17-inch wheels. Optional 19-inch wheels are also available.

You may not be able tell the difference at first glance. Mazda claims that only the steering wheel, and some small trim pieces, are carried over from the previous model. To emphasize the Mazda6’s sharp lines the dashboard has been stretched. Signature models include Sen wood, Nappa and UltraSuede NU on the doors, dashboard, and seats.

The Mazda6 now offers two new paint colors. Soul Red Chrystal, Machine Gray Metallic and other colors are new to the Mazda6’s model range.

The biggest change is under the hood. The Mazda6 now has a 2.5-liter turbocharged SkyActiv engine that delivers 250 horsepower (186 kW) as well as 310 pound-feet torque. The same engine was used in the CX-9 crossover earlier this year and is available with the standard SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission. Although the six-speed manual can still be ordered on the 2.5-liter SkyActiv engine in its lower trim, it is not available for this model.
