It’s business from the outside and party on the inside.
Motor1.com loves camping. But, if you’re anything like us, you might not like the stigma of driving a huge motorhome or pulling a camper trailer. Even smaller campers can instantly call you a tourist. Sometimes less is more and it’s okay to travel under the radar.
This trailer looks more like an enclosed utility trailer than it is. This is not a basic trailer. It is a camper with all the amenities one needs in a home-away from-home. The trailer is built by Cargo camp and costs around $7,500. You can take it on cross-country adventures. You can choose to have a standard cargo trailer that measures five feet by eight feet in length, or a trailer that is ten feet with more space. The walls and ceiling are then insulated. Wiring, vents and windows are also added. The inner walls are completed with storage and cabinets as well as custom cushions that fit the bench seats and beds.
After all is said and done, the space is used extremely well. The trailer’s living area is the largest part. There is also a small kitchen in the back. An optional awning can be added with a bug screen to create a protected area outside the trailer. There are also other options such as rooftop air conditioners and electric heaters. For off-grid camping, solar panels and batteries can be purchased from Cargo Camp. If you wish, Cargo Camp will also allow for a mini-refrigerator or freezer. Although it’s not extravagant, it’s comfortable enough for weekend camping trips into the deep woods. Only thing that’s missing is an onboard toilet and water supply, but camping is supposed to be fun. Find a tree to help you take care of your business, just like your ancestors.
It’s wrapped in a nondescript cargo van so no one will think you’re out of town when you pull up to a quiet country restaurant for lunch. This platform has many advantages. The trailers weigh in at 1,400 pounds (635 kg) and are very light. This trailer is 1,000 lbs (454kg) lighter than a typical small pop-up camper. It’s easy to tow. They can be pulled by almost any vehicle with a hitch.
However, adding options can increase the cost. Fully-equipped trailers can cost upwards of $13,000. This is not unreasonable for newer pop-up trailers that have more features. You can have a mobile camping solution that costs very little if you avoid the costly add-ons. You won’t have to worry about the camper stigma again.
