Motorsport fans were able to enjoy what was undoubtedly one of the most thrilling Formula 1 races in recent history over the weekend. The biennial Le Mans Classic, which took place at the Circuit de la Sarthe, was another event worth seeing. The race in France was a lot like the F1 race at Silverstone.

One-of-a kind Ferrari 250 SWB “Breadvan”, a Ferrari 250 SWB, crashed into the tire barrier and lost its passenger-side doors. The driver, Lukas Halusa (31 years old) from Austria was able to get out of the wrecked car safely and sound despite the fact that it crashed into the tire barrier in an antique car that raced at Le Mans 60 years ago. The car’s unique rear end, which is shaped like a breadvan, needs some serious attention.

The Breadvan was not approved by Enzo Ferrari back then. It is interesting. The car’s origins lie in Il Commendatore refusing to sell Count Giovanni Volpi an shiny-new 250 GTO. This car was created from an old 250 GT SWB, which was fitted with a more powerful V12 motor to a lighter, more aerodynamic body.

It was entered at the 1962 Le Mans. Although it was faster than any of the 250 GTOs (but with a damaged driveshaft), it was unable to finish the race. After four hours of racing, the Breadvan, nicknamed “La Camionnette” (or “little truck”) by the French press, was seventh overall. The Ferrari road-legal 456 GT Venice was followed by the more recent FF / .

Coachbuilder Niels Van Roij Design made a Breadvan project based upon a Ferrari 550 Maranello at the start of last year. Although it didn’t have six Weber carburetors through the hood of the car, a transparent bubble was added to achieve a similar effect. The retro-flavoured shooting brake was also a one-off, much like its inspiration.
