Chevrolet Corvette Mid-Engined With Different Side Scoops

Are you more comfortable with your scoops exposed or covered?

Artists continue to render renderings of the mid engined Chevrolet Corvette. These new renderings from Midengine Corvette Forum members fvs show the vehicle’s profile, and focus on the two possible side scoop appearances.

In the rendering above, the top of the side scoop creates a crease that flows to the bottom. This creates a sharp section that points towards the rear of the vehicle. This styling cue is very eye-catching.

Fvs believes that Chevy’s cover over the side intake may be a red hering and that the company would take down part of it for production. This change makes the car look even more sharper at the back. However, we are curious if the inlet could be as effective at directing air towards the engine without an extra piece.

The time is running out to make mid-engine Corvette renderings. The model will debut July 18, 2019, somewhere within Orange County, California. Production will begin before the end, with the first examples expected to be available in 2020.

The naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 producing about 460 horsepower (343 Kilowatts), , and a dual clutch gearbox are all indications that the C8 Corvette will launch with a dual-clutch transmission. Rumours suggest that models will be available with a twin turbo overhead-cam V8 delivering approximately 650 horsepower (485 kW), or a twin turbine V8 producing 850 horsepower. A hybrid model with an alleged 1,000 horsepower (745 kW) is also possible.
