A recent report from Chevrolet claims that the El Camino revival is being considered by the company to combat high gas prices.
A recent report claims that Chevrolet is looking into a revival of the El Camino.
Although nothing has been approved, Mark Reuss, GM vice president, stated that rising gas prices have led Chevrolet to consider offering a lighter, car-based pickup similar to the Holden Ute. He said, “I have lived in Australia, and I’ve seen fuel prices as low as $5 per gallon. Many tradesmen will use a ute equipped with a tray at the back to do many different tasks. They don’t require the same amount of bandwidth as a large pickup truck.
Although no timeframe was provided, it is likely that GM will wait to launch the model before the redesign of the Commodore / Ute is revealed in 2013 or 2014.
