You can travel up to 500 miles with one tank
Official numbers for the Chevrolet Corvette have been released. We don’t know much about power, but we do know that the mid-engined coupe makes 490 horsepower (365 kilowatts) straight out of the box. Chevy now shows how efficient the 6.2-liter V8 engine is. In an interview, Ed Piatek (Chief Engineer at Chevrolet) tells us that the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette has an official EPA rating of 15 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. The total driving distance is impressive at 500 miles (804 km) with a single tank.
These are impressive numbers for a car capable of sprinting to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under three seconds and then to a top speed exceeding 194 mph (312 km/h). The C8’s fuel efficiency is better than other mid-engined coupes such as the McLaren 720S (15 cities/22 highway). It performs better than the hybrid Acura NSX (22 Highway).
The C8’s tank is 18.6 gallons. This allows it to travel 500 miles at an impressive distance. The 720S’ tank is slightly larger at 19.0 gallons. However, the Corvette wins over the NSX with a 15.6-gallon tank. The new Tremec eight speed dual-clutch Tremec 8-speed dual-clutch works at highway speeds, which should help to keep efficiency high.
Chevy is keeping some details about the car secret. Chevrolet is expected to reveal more details about the coupe as it nears production, which will be sometime in the next few week.
