Chevy Corvette C8 vs Dodge Demon Drag Racing Ends in An Upset

Can the mid-engine sports coupe be beaten by a muscle car?

The 2020 Chevy corvette Corvette is a fast car. The mid-engine sports coupe, which is equipped with the Z51 performance pack, has been touted as a fast car. It can reach speeds of zero to 60 mph (97 km/h) and takes less than three seconds.

But is the Vette C8 fast enough to beat a muscle car purposely designed to win straight-line races. This is the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Throttle House organized a drag race to determine the answer.

Let’s now see the drag race video.

The new Corvette’s 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine produces 490 horsepower (362 kilowatts) as well as 465 pound-feet (603 Newton-meters). The secret to C8’s amazing acceleration is the aggressive gearing of the Corvette’s first dual clutch transmission.

The Dodge Demon, on the other hand, uses a 6.2-liter V8 motor. However, it also gets a boost from the 2.7-liter supercharger. This allows it to produce 840 hp (626kW) and 770lb-ft (1.044 Nm), while running on 100-octane fuel. The Demon is running on 94 octane and making a respectable 603 kW.

The Dodge Demon is obviously more powerful than the Corvette, but the Corvette weighs in at around 900 pounds (408 kg). Drag races are often decided by the person at the wheel. There are also many factors that can affect traction, such as the road surface, tire type, and other factors.

Do you think that the Corvette C8 could beat the Dodge Demon in its own backyard? Check out the embedded video to see how.

Oh, and we also said that the race would end in an upset. It all depends on who you root for.
