Chevy Corvette Facing 911, Audi R8 in Lopsided RWD Drag Race

You may know who is the winner, but what about the two runners-up?

This week’s drag race is courtesy of the UK Carwow. It’s a battle between three unlikely competitors at the line. The Chevrolet Corvette will be facing two German names: the Porsche 911, and the Audi R8. These three cars have one thing in common: their powerplants only power the rear wheels. This seems like a very unfair drag race. There are many factors that can affect straight-line speeds. Let’s see what the numbers mean. A 6.2-liter V8 powers the Chevy Corvette Steingray. The engine produces 475 horsepower (354 Kilowatts) as well as 452 pound-feet (613 Newton meters) of torque. It weighs in at 3,649 lbs (1,655 kg).

Porsche 911 base Carrera is powered by a 3.0-liter flat-six twin-turbocharged flat-6 engine. It produces 385 horsepower (287 kW) & 332 lb/ft (450 Nm). It is 3,327 lbs (1.509 kg). The Audi R8V10 Performance RWD is powered by a normally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10. It produces 570 horsepower (425 kW) as well as 406 lbft (550 Nm). The vehicle weighs in at 3,547 lbs (1.609 kg).

The Audi R8 is clearly the winner in this matchup, as it has the most powerful engine and is the middle weight. The Corvette C8 is more powerful than the base 911 Carrera in terms of power output, but the Porsche is significantly lighter. You can be sure that the Audi will be the winner of the RWD drag race at this point. But which of the two cars, the Porsche or the Chevy, do you think won the standing and rolling races?
