Chevy Corvette Subbrand Is Not Completely Ruling out by GM Boss

Never say never.

Are you still angry at Ford’s decision not to call its new four-door electric crossover the Mustang There have been rumors for some time about General Motors creating a Corvette subbrand. A recent report by Motor Trend does not completely discredit such speculations. According to GM CEO Mary Barra who said that a Corvette subbrand was unlikely, but did not rule out the possibility of it.

As quoted by Trend in Motor Vehicles Barra said that “you must be really careful …”” and then added, “I’m going to say never, however, I think if General Motors ever did anything, we would evaluate it very, very carefully.” This is the million-dollar question. Already in progress and that’s why GM is still mum on the matter.

A Corvette Sub-brand would make sense. It seems to be a close certainty from a financial standpoint, at least according a report by Morgan Stanley contributor Adam Jonas, an auto industry analyst. According to Adam Jonas, a Morgan Stanley contributor and auto industry analyst, such a sub-brand could be worth up to $12 billion. However, that depends on what models it offers. Many would argue that Corvette is already a sub-brand. The base model C7 sports car costs under $60,000, while a variety of variants can lead to the ZR1 which produces 755 horsepower and costs $120,000. In this context, we are referring to Corvette EVs, Corvette crossovers and Corvette sedans that will accompany the 2020 C8 Stingray.

It’s definitely a possibility that has been discussed – thus our motivation to make a Corvette SUV rendering our own. Barra doesn’t seem to believe that such a thing could happen in Motor Trend, but you can bet that GM executives will closely monitor Ford to see how the Mustang sub-brand develops.
