Chevy says Corvette C8 buyers are wealthier than C7 customers

Mind you, not just by one hair.

It’s enough to say that if you can afford a two-seater sportscar that can barely haul a month’s worth groceries, then you are most likely wealthy (and probably have another vehicle as your grocery-getter).

However, Chevy Corvette C8 owners are more wealthy than those who purchased its predecessor, C7. This is according to Steve Hill (General Motors’ North America Vice-President), who made the comment during a media engagement Authority.

You might be wondering how wealthier you are. Hill revealed that the median household income for a Corvette buyer with a mid-engine engine is $76,000 more than the one who bought the old model. This is not a typo. It means that the Vette has attracted a new class of sports car buyers.

This confirms the previous Chevrolet data. According to production statistics released by the Golden Bow Tie, Corvette C8 purchasers were large spenders and opted for the more expensive 2LT or 3LT options rather than the lower priced base 1LT which starts at below $60,000.

This worked out for the automaker as 21,626 Corvettes were delivered in 2020. This is 20% more than the 17,988 units that were sold in 2019. This is 20 percent more than the 17,988 units that were sold in 2019.

Chevy now has the ball in his/her hands. With more wealthy customers and a higher demand, it is now up to Chevy to deliver the orders. This is despite the ongoing pandemic and other factors that could impact production.
