To increase power, the engine’s 5.3-liter or 6.2-liter V8s must be replaced with a 6.8-liter version (LT-1) of General Motors’ LT-1 that is custom-built and also has a supercharger. The engine’s internals have been updated to handle the increase. They now include a forged steel crankshaft and forged aluminum pistons. Ported cylinder heads are also included. Buyers who choose the 1,000-hp engine will also receive an upgrade to their heavy-duty automatic transmission. A revised exhaust relocates the exits to the side bumper, just behind the wheels, for extra style.
