China Gets an Early Debut of the 2022 Honda Civic Sedan Production Model

China Gets an Early Debut of the 2022 Honda Civic Sedan Production ModelHonda has not yet officially announced the production-ready Civic.

To be homologated, every new Chinese car must be dropped off at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Photos are taken and, on occasion, published on MIIT’s official website before the actual car is revealed. Honda’s 2022 Civic is a story about this, even though it hasn’t been revealed in production guise , we are being shown an early look.

We are talking about the CN-spec compact sedan. This means that the North American model might look a little different. We feel Honda has created a single global model that will allow for minimal differences between markets. Here are two different configurations of the new Civic for People’s Republic.

The one with the chunky trunk lid spoiler and black side mirror caps would be considered a higher-end model. It also has different door handles and wheels, which are likely LEDs. This is in contrast to the lower-end model’s older-fashioned bulbs. Both models have the “240” badge on their trunk lids. However, the more expensive one has a dual exhaust system while the less-expensive model has it hidden under its rear bumper.
China Gets an Early Debut of the 2022 Honda Civic Sedan Production ModelThe road-going Civic is, to no one’s surprise and a perfect replica of the prototype that was revealed in November last year. We’re not denying that there are minor changes such as fog lights being added, but these are the details. Although the interior was not shown in MIIT’s photos, we will remind you that Honda teased it at the time the prototype was revealed. The video below shows a sneak peek at the interior starting at 5:51.

Honda has said that the 2022 Civic production model will be introduced in the first quarter. This could mean it will arrive before the end of this month. Many spy shots have shown that the hatchback is close behind. The coupe will not be returning for the eleventh generation. The new Civic Si sedan will be available to enthusiasts. A Civic Type R hatchback will also be available. These will arrive later with three pedals.

Euro people are particularly interested in the TypeR because it is rumored to be Honda’s last pure gasoline vehicle sold on the Old Continent. Although there were rumors of the hot hatch becoming hybrid, the latest information suggests that it will continue to use a gasoline-only powertrain, specifically the 2.0-liter turbocharged four pot. The hot hatch will get an increase in power output of 306 horsepower while still being front-wheel-driven.

It is already March 11th, so the wraps will be removed in the days or weeks to come.
