In the past decade, China’s automotive industry has made significant progress. The local automakers have made great strides in producing high-quality, technologically advanced vehicles. They are no longer selling low-quality and cheap cars that look a lot like the models produced by American and European automakers. The SUV market in China is booming, and almost every Chinese automaker has at least one high-riding competitor. Which one is best for you if your goal is to have a spacious and comfortable family hauler?

Our Chinese friends from WheelsboyChe had the opportunity to see an early production version of the Li Auto L9, and it’s safe to say that this is China’s best family SUV. Li Auto was established in 2015. Although it is not one of the 10 largest automakers in the country, it has a solid image and plans to raise 2 billion from US investors through a stock offering. Although the L9 is only the second model, it offers a lot.

The L9 is an large SUV design. You won’t see any sloped rooflines or fashion design changes. Both the front and rear end have simple designs, with coast-tocoast LED strips giving them a unified look. The L9 appears more expensive than it is. It is more attractive than the Land Rover Range Rover.

The interior of the SUV looks amazing, no matter how sleek it is. The dashboard is dominated by two 15.7-inch screens. Li Auto claims that they are the thinnest available currently on the market. Each screen measures 4 mm thick. The screens react very quickly, as can be seen in the video at top of this page. Below the screens are two wireless charging pods. A small screen is attached to the steering wheel that provides basic information about your vehicle.

The L9’s rear seats offer the most comfort. The L9’s rear seats are the most comfortable. They have heating, ventilation and massage functions. The fridge can hold six cans of soda and acts – behold! as an oven to keep your food warm.
