Chrysler Preparing Up to Three Electric Minivans By 2028

All future EVs from Chrysler will be able to ride on the STLA Large platform

By 2028, Chrysler will have three electric vehicles instead of just one. Chris Feuell, the brand’s boss, gave some details about the plan to Motor Trend at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Feuell claims that all future Chrysler EVs will be able to ride on the STLA Large platform. They will be distinct from other electric models from Stellantis’ range of brands.

The production version from Chrysler’s Airflow concept will be the first EV. It was unveiled at this year’s CES. Although the model available at dealers will be similar to the one on display, it won’t have identical styling. The vehicle’s name may be changed by the brand before it reaches showrooms. The EV is expected to arrive in showrooms in 2024 as a product of the ’25 model years.

Feuell stated that Chrysler would introduce “one to two” electric crossovers after the Airflow is released in production. This will be before 2028. The exec indicated that another EV is on the horizon: a minivan with a new perspective. This is not a Pacifica with an entirely new powertrain. It is not yet clear when exactly this vehicle will be built.

The brand’s corporate parent Stellantis gives an indication of what the future Chrysler EVs will look like. It says the STLA Large platform can travel up to 500 miles (805 km) using batteries that have a power output of 101 to 118 kilowatthours. The STLA Small, Medium and Frame versions are also available.

STLA Large will be using electric drive modules capable of producing 201 to 443 horsepower (150 – 330 kilowatts). Each bundle combines the inverter, motor, and gearbox. Engineers can set up a vehicle for all-wheel, front- or rear-wheel drive.

Chrysler showcased the new STLA SmartCockpit infotainment platform at CES. This tech will be available in cars in 2024. It is a collaboration between Amazon and Chrysler so that owners can connect it with their Alexa smart home or security systems.
