Numerous Stellantis manufacturing plants are experiencing cuts in production due to the global chip shortage. This makes the automaker the latest victim in the worldwide manufacturing disaster . A report by Automotive News Due to the shortage, many Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Ram plants in the US will be experiencing downtime this week. The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan is the primary victim of the shortage. Ram 1500 . For a week, the facility employing over 7,000 people will be offline.

The Jeep Cherokee is currently down at the Belvidere Assembly Plant, Illinois. The Windsor Assembly Plant, Ontario, Canada, that makes the Chrysler Pacifica, and Voyager, also shuts down. Both plants will be out of service from August 30 through September 6, 2021.

The temporary shutdown of the Brampton Assembly Plant, also in Ontario, will take place this week. Brampton builds the Dodge Challenger and Charger as well as the Chrysler 300.

Stellantis will continue to work with our suppliers to minimize the manufacturing impact caused by various supply chain issues facing the industry,” FCA-PSA merger firm stated in a statement.

These plants aren’t facing hold-ups due to global chip shortages for the first time. Similar problems were faced by Sterling Heights Assembly Plan in July. Windsor’s plant just returned to normal production in July. The production of the Gladiator was halted in Ohio’s Toledo South Assembly Plant .

The global chip shortage has caused massive disruption in the industry. Even giants such as Toyota were affected. Recently, they announced a 40% reduction in production in Japan.
