Chrysler did something strange almost a year ago. The old Voyagermoniker was resurrected by the company and became the entry-level Chrysler minivan. The Pacifica’s lowest trim level was cut because it was a rebadged Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler now has a new Pacifica, with some fresh tech and an extensive facelift. The Voyager will not be affected by these changes.
A report by MotorTrend Matt Davis, Chrysler’s chief designer, confirmed that the Voyager and Pacifica will have different faces. While the Voyager continues to be designed, the Pacifica will get a new look with the 2021 model-year. It makes sense to differentiate the minivans from the close-knit ones. This draws a distinction between the entry-level and the more expensive models and gives potential buyers of the Pacifica a little more incentive to spend.
The updated skin is not the only incentive Pacifica shoppers have. Additional tech is available in the 2021 model with the new Uconnect 5 system. It can be accessed via a 10.1 inch infotainment screen. Pinnacle models with a higher range receive Nappa leather seats, and a new center console with more storage. Pacifica’s torque-vectoring all wheel-drive system can distribute power to all four corners, including the rear.
Although there are many reasons to choose the Pacifica over Voyager, the entry-level minivan is still a worthy choice. It costs less than $30,000 and shares the Pacifica’s 3.6-liter V6 motor. You can also get a small amount of tech and driver safety features, and Chrysler will likely add some more kit to the Voyager’s collection later in the year.
