The C5 Aircross will arrive in Europe at the end of 2018.
Citroen dropped the C5 midsize sedan in April. This also signified the end of the complicated hydropneumatic suspension. Linda Jackson, the company boss, revealed that the third generation of the C5 sedan will not be coming soon. She also said that a new version would be released in 2020. As the Euro-spec version of the C5 is still in existence in China, it was redesigned at the start of the year. It was also shown at Auto Shanghai in April. The CN-spec C5 was refreshed with a number of changes, including a revised grille and headlights. The cabin received a new all-digital instrument cluster as well as an 8-inch infotainment screen.
There are two engine options: a turbocharged 1.5-liter that produces 165 horsepower (123kilowatts) with 245 Newton-meters (181 pounds-feet of torque) and a larger unit, the 1.8-liter which develops 201 hp (135 kW) and 282 Nm (207lb-ft). The C5 can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 9.8 seconds, while the second one completes the task within 8.3 seconds. A new C5 for Europe will not arrive until the end the decade because the PSA Group has more pressing matters right now. The decision to make DS a luxury brand that is independent from the rest of the range has left some gaps which are being filled. The chief of the company stated that Opel / Vauxhall’s purchase won’t affect Citroens new model roadmap.
Europeans don’t need to wait until 2020 for a C5-branded model. The C5 Aircross will arrive on Europe towards the end 2018 following its launch in China next month. The new two-step suspension features two hydraulic stops. One for rebound, the other for compression. Linda Jackson stated that the new suspension would only be available for Citroen models. Future Opel cars will not be able to benefit from the new technology. The Peugeot 508 is a midsize model that the PSA Group will be releasing in 2018. It has a more appealing design and will replace the sedan body with a sleeker, fasterback style.
