Classic Mini Officially Returns With 120-HP Electric PowertrainMini claims that the drive-ability of the Mini Recharged will not be compromised. The Mini Recharged’s electric motor, which is 120 horsepower (90-watt), will improve the Mini’s performance. The small hatch can go from standstill to 62 miles an hour (0-62 mi per hour) in nine seconds. This is three to four seconds faster than a stock Mini. Mini does not provide details about the battery’s capacity. However, Mini claims that the expected range on a full charge is approximately 100 miles (160 km). The maximum charging output is 6.6 kW. Mini is proud to say that the original dashboard’s center instrument cluster still displays information about the current drive temperature, selected gear, range and speed. Mini claims that the vehicle can be driven in central areas of cities without combustion cars, which is one of its main advantages. Mini Plant Oxford will lead the retrofit and development of the electric powertrain for the Minis.
