It’s possible to tweak the Corvette C8 for more livability.
The Chevrolet Corvette C8 is a refreshing look at the brand that has been around since forever. Although it’s not perfect, the Corvette C8 is a great value. It can compete with expensive cars twice its price. The Nurburgring lap times show this with Chevrolet posting a time in 7:29.9. You’ll be able to see that the Nurburgring lap times have been the benchmark for measuring performance on a long, dangerous, and hazardous road course. Although 7:29.9 is not a bad time, there are rumors that it could have been quicker.
Muscle cars & Trucks believes that the lap time released by Chevrolet in February 2020 was actually for a slower Corvette C8. This is much closer to production than the lap time they tested in December last year. The lap time for December 2019 was a stunning 7:28.30 and was posted as an exclusive on the MC&T website. This is 1.6 seconds faster that Chevy claims. According to MC&T it all has to do with the way it was modified before it reached customers. The production Corvette C8s were calibrated and adjusted to improve daily use such as improved NVH, low speed characteristics and livability. MC&T continues by saying that the new Corvette has been subject to several re-calibrations, including those performed after its official unveiling and early access to long-standing automotive magazines.
They reached out to Chevy for comments, and the manufacturer stood by its performance numbers. This could be true, judging by MC&T’s track record of accurate guesswork on Corvette C8 and all its rumors. They are also on point with their statements. For the average consumer, however, a time between 0 and 60 miles per hour of 2.9 seconds is more than sufficient, even if it’s a second and half faster around Green Hell.
