According to leaked information, it will include an appearance package.
We found out about the plans for the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette from dealer-sourced information that had allegedly been leaked before it was time. This was in March 2020. Chevy representatives couldn’t confirm this information and, while it seemed quite normal, we didn’t have any way to verify its authenticity. We now have evidence to support a Stingray R special edition, thanks to photos posted by Corvette Racing on Tweet.
This is Chevy’s official Twitter account. This August 2 tweet focused on the race cars at Road Atlanta. However, a third vehicle was also featured. Although the white Corvette appears to be a pace car it could also be something more. The car’s front splitter is marked with Stingray R. The pace car could be a preview of the Stingray R special-edition model.
According to previously leaked information, the Stingray R is a graphics package that includes special wheel caps. This pace car features a cool race-themed over the-top stripe with a Corvette emblem on its hood. Corvette Racing in small, red letters.
The roof of the black/carbon stripe is also covered in a Chevy bowtie. And you can’t miss the huge Stingray banner on the windshield. It’s impossible to miss the red side-mirror caps, but it’s difficult to see the wheels well enough to determine what special treatment may be taking place there.
If this is indeed a preview of the Stingray R will it be more than an appearance package or just a preview? There is no indication that the special treatment will go beyond aesthetics as shown in the photos and the leaked information. Although the package will likely be available for the 2021 model-year, it is not known when an announcement will be made. Unfortunately, the package will not be available at the start of 2021 production in the late summer. A backlog of 12-18 months means that you will have to wait at least one year before receiving delivery.
