We saw spy photos and videos of Chevrolet at the Nurburgring testing the Corvette Z06C8. The plan was to attempt to set a new record on the famous Nurburgring course. The Z06 was one of 10 cars that attempted to lap the track in this two-hour session. However, only two (a McLaren765LT, and a Cadillac CT5V) were able complete a lap according to Road & Track. Chevy will not be able to set a lap record due to rain forecasted.

September will mark the next industry testing event at the track. The good news is that engineers have at most a few weeks to tweak the Z06 based upon the testing throughout the month.

Chevy will debut the new Z06 on October 26, 2021. It would be great for marketing the new model to be able to declare a ‘Ring record. Sales don’t begin until 2022.

According to the most popular rumor, the Z06 will feature a 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8 with dual-overhead camshafts. According to some reports, the engine produces 617 horsepower (460 kilowatts) and the redline can reach 9,000 rpm. It runs through an automatic gearbox from Tremec that may have a magnesium case.

The Z06 gets a more aggressive body. Some examples include testing with large wings while others have a small spoiler. The larger piece could be an option in a performance package.
