One artist believes so.
Ferrari officially went to the Dark Side. It promises an SUV in a few years, despite its previous supercar-only status. This means that more mainstream cars such as sedans and hatchbacks will soon follow. One artist created a Ferrari city-centric hatchback that looks great, even more with a rally overhaul.
The concept was created by Taekang Lee, an artist. The concept takes many familiar Ferrari cues and applies them to the body of a tiny hatchback. For example, the front grille is ripped from an 812 Superfast. The taillights look familiar; the round LEDs have similarities to both the 599 GTB and the 488 GTB. The wheels are also from an outgoing 458.
The appeal is not limited to the road-going version. Lee also designed a rally version. The hatchback comes in an F1-inspired Shell paint scheme and WRC body kit. This includes performance upgrades such as a front diffuser, new wheels and a huge spoiler.
Although the artist does not highlight performance, our best guess is a turbocharged V6. Rumours suggest a turbocharged, turbocharged V6 to replace the 488 replacement. This would be the first car to get the smaller displacement engine. We already know that Ferrari’s SUV is going to get a hybrid V8. This engine will be in the Ferrari lineup in 2019.
However, it is unlikely that this Ferrari hatchback will ever happen. The Ferrari SUV is still not built. With more supercar experts making the shift to SUVs (i.e. Lamborghini, we don’t think it will surprise us to see a Ferrari hatchback some day.
