The 2016 Hilux, which is billed as an all-new model by Hilux, measures 70mm longer than the predecessor and is 20mm wider. It also features a lower roofline and LED daytime running lights and headlights. The exterior features include a more sophisticated design, deeper front bumper and prominent character lines. Redesigned rear bumper. New tailgate includes a rearview camera as standard. Depending on the trim level, Hilux can be ridden on 16-inch, 17-inch or 18 inch alloy wheels.
The cabin is more car-like than you might expect. Toyota claims that the interior will offer the same utility and comfort as an SUV. It features a touchscreen-like touchscreen display that is tablet-like in appearance for the infotainment systems, as well as a 4WD switchover switch, leather upholstery, and an LCD screen between the speedometer/tachometer.
The 2016 Toyota Hilux will have a 2.4-liter turbodiesel that produces 160 bhp (112 kW) or 295 lb (400 Nm), and a 2.8 liter turbodiesel that is rated at 177bhp (122 kW) or 332 lb (450 Nm). A 2.7-liter four cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine produces 164 bhp (122 kW), and a 2.8-liter turbodiesel produces 177 bhp (1132 kW), and a 2.8-liter turbodiesel is rated at 177 bhp (332 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm). There’s also an extra-powerful 4.0-liter six-cylinder producing 278 bhp (278 kW) with 278 (207 bhp (612 a power (207 kW) Toyota will offer a six speed manual transmission and a six speed automatic transmission depending on the engine choice.
Toyota claims that the new Hilux will have a maximum towing weight of 3,500 kg (7.716 lbs) as well as a payload capacity of up to 1,240kg (2.733 lbs).
The sales of the new Toyota Hilux will begin in the coming months.
