Although they are not happy places to be, hearses can still get a second chance at life after they have completed their duties of transporting the deceased to their final resting place. Christopher and Mike, brothers from Illinois, took this idea to the extreme by turning a vintage Cadillac hearse in to a camper with high roofs that can be used for a weekend away. Christopher runs a tattoo shop and the heardse was originally intended to be a tattoo vehicle. However, Mike had an alternative idea. It is called Campula after Dragula from ” the Munsters“. The fiberglass coffin was constructed by George Barris.

Although the Cadillac may now be considered a camper, it is largely stock under its redesign. The stock 5.7-liter V8 engine is used, but it has had suspension upgrades. It stands more than 9 feet tall, and measures 18 feet long (2.7 and 5.4 meters respectively). It weighs in at 6,300 pounds (2.857 kilograms). It is meant to look as stock as possible. The most difficult part of the conversion was the raising the roof. It has a ribbed front that looks like the entrance to the mortuary.
