It’s too bad that there isn’t a Cybertruck in production to test it.
Camping vacations have been growing in popularity since before the pandemic. But, it has exploded exponentially in the past year. This is the ideal socially distant getaway. Truck toppers provide compact, all-in-one solutions that aren’t available in large, dedicated RVs. CyberLandr has the smart telescoping top for its Tesla Cybertruck. However, there’s an elephant in that room, which we’ll talk about later.
We’ve seen only renderings of the camper, which literally rises above everyone else. CyberLandr posted a 30-second video on YouTube proving that this idea isn’t just vaporware. The clip includes reminders that some of the most important inventions of the past 100 years were born in a garage. It also features a working CyberLandr camper shell prototype.
The camper appears to be only a few seconds away from the end, so we don’t really see much. It appears to be a shell at this stage. As the four sections in the renderings become visible, the cap gradually extends upwards and touches the garage ceiling. While the prototype does have windows on the top two levels, it doesn’t seem to have the extended tailgate section. The designer may still be finishing the garage where the prototype topper is residing.
The Tesla Cybertruck is the elephant in the room. The first deliveries were scheduled for late 2021 when it debuted in late 2019. It’s now September and we have not seen the Cybertruck’s final production form. Tesla has confirmed that production will be increased to 2022. However, the exact date for 2022 is unknown. There are currently over, but they can be refunded if prospective buyers become tired or cold feet.
CyberLandr is therefore in a difficult spot. The camper shell arrives in time for Tesla’s original Cybertruck schedule, which is something that can be praised by everyone. The camper is getting a lot of interest, with over 1,100 reservations. It’s useless without a truck to drive it.
