This big, comfortable sleeper has the heartbeat of an Audi S3 but the speed of a BMW M5.
Skoda isn’t yet certain whether to make an RS version its Superb flagship. So one owner of the AWD-equipped 280-horsepower model decided that he would do it himself. This Superb has twice the production of its stock counterpart and features the Sportline, Laurin & Klement and Greenline badges.
The standard version can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.8 seconds, and then it can go on to reach 155 mph (253 kph). This is the fastest production Skoda engine, but Michael, who also owns an Abarth 595, wanted more. He decided to upgrade the engine to the Audi S3 specifications, and gave it stage 1 and 2 power packs. The engine was similar to the one in the Superb and the VW Golf R. It underwent extensive modifications to produce 560 horsepower.
This Superb has had a lot of modifications, including a modified water methanol injection system and a turbocharger that is more powerful. Although the DSG transmission is still in stock, the clutch has been modified with an APR kit. A company that develops custom exhausts for Aston Martin created the bespoke custom exhaust with carbon tips. The exhaust cost about PS3,000 (nearly $4000)
The interior is mostly unchanged, except for the flat-bottomed Alcantara-clad steering wheel borrowed from another VAG vehicle. The center console also sports a “TDI Sport Edition” badge. It is a Laurin & Klement specification and has all the modern Skoda bells and whistles.
The owner claims that his RS-ified Superb, with all its upgrades, is faster than the BMW M5. Michael actually used a race data recorder to track the 0-60mph (0-96 km/h) sprint. The car completed the task in just 2.9 seconds. The standard M5 takes 3.2 seconds, while the Competition model takes 3.1 seconds.
If you are interested in driving the Skoda fast car, it is for sale at a price of PS34,995 (around $45,700).
