It is a luxury sedan that produces 650+ horsepower with studded tires.
When someone tells that you want to be a professional rally driver, what is your first reaction? You’ll likely just smile at someone and say “oh! that’s nice!” knowing how much time, effort, money and time it takes to prepare for a professional rally driver. Jay Bullington, a Saukville resident, was probably the one who got this reaction after he announced his plans to his friends.
Jay is the founder of JXB Performance. This company designs and sells performance parts. Jay pretends that he’s working with his two coworkers, but in reality he’s just spitballing ideas to improve race cars or build the next crazy car. It was likely one of those days when Jay got the idea of an Audi S6 I thought of preparing for ice racing. The execution of this project is amazing.
The car in the attached gallery was originally a 2013 S6. It had multiple owners before Jay bought it. The car even had its 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine replaced. Jay explained that this made it the “perfect choice for a race car”. After several bolt-on power modifications including exhaust and fueling upgrades to support hybrid turbos and performance intakes, the sedan became a fast, 650+ whp sleeper.
However, this was not the main goal. Jay was looking for a car to race on ice, to replace his S4 and this S6 with high mileage was the perfect choice. He wanted the sedan to be in top shape so he decided to give it tubular front-end protection. He reached out to a local cage builder to discuss his options. His front end features angular fenders that allow for studded tires as well as an Audi-like honeycomb grille.
The entire custom front end is approximately 200 pounds (91 kg) in weight and took 200 hours to make. What is the result? Jay shared his excitement with us, saying that he had beaten through many snowbanks and the front end is in perfect condition. Jay originally planned to design the front in a way that the body parts could be interchangeable, but it turned out “too awesome to contemplate taking it off after the season.”
What’s next for the Mad Max? Jay sent us this: “Maybe, we’ll do it to the rear end or mount some lights and studded tires too, you see, roof racks look cool, especially when they have cool tires.” We are eager to see what the next level will look like.
